**Job Title:** Engineer 5 – Contingent MongoDB Admin / Database Admin (MongoDB)
**Role Summary:**
Seasoned MongoDB Database Administrator responsible for design, implementation, and ongoing management of high‑availability MongoDB clusters (replica sets and sharded environments). Ensures performance, security, compliance, and disaster‑recovery readiness while collaborating with application, infrastructure, and security teams. Provides expert guidance, incident leadership, and automation for database operations in a contract engagement.
**Expectations:**
- Deliver reliable, secure, and performant MongoDB services supporting business initiatives.
- Lead root‑cause analysis and implement long‑term fixes for database incidents.
- Automate maintenance, provisioning, monitoring, and alerting tasks.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation and ensure audit compliance (SOX, PCI, HIPAA).
- Communicate effectively with cross‑functional teams and senior leadership.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Manage and maintain MongoDB clusters, including replica sets and sharded deployments.
- Design and implement HA/DR solutions using replication, backups, and cloud‑native tools.
- Perform performance tuning, query optimization, capacity planning, and indexing strategy.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts (JavaScript, Shell) and use Ansible, Terraform, or Jenkins for provisioning and maintenance.
- Implement security controls: RBAC, encryption, auditing, and ensure compliance readiness.
- Oversee backup and recovery processes via MongoDB Ops Manager, cloud backups, or enterprise solutions.
- Monitor cluster health with MongoDB Atlas, Prometheus, Grafana, or custom dashboards; create alerts.
- Produce and update documentation for configurations, procedures, and disaster‑recovery plans.
**Required Skills:**
- 7+ years MongoDB administration (architecture, replication, sharding, performance tuning).
- Strong proficiency in MongoDB query language, aggregation framework, and indexing.
- Linux/Unix system administration and Shell scripting.
- Automation tools: Ansible, Terraform, Jenkins (or equivalent).
- Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, GCP) and storage integration.
- Monitoring tools: MongoDB Atlas, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar.
- Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and incident‑management capabilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication; documentation skills.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field *or* equivalent professional experience.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., MongoDB Certified DBA, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Linux certifications) are preferred but not mandatory.
