Job Description
Job Title: 2025 Field Engineer Intern Role Summary: Intern field engineer supporting construction projects under project manager oversight, assisting with cost reporting, schedule updates, subcontractor coordination, shop drawing supervision, and field inspections on-site. Expectations: Enrolled in a 4‑year accredited program studying Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. Prior heavy‑civil construction internship preferred. Ability to work on‑site in varying climates, manage multiple tasks, and communicate effectively with subcontractors, architects, and engineers. Key Responsibilities: - Prepare and maintain cost reports, look‑ahead and look‑back analyses, and subcontractor requisitions. - Develop additional work orders (AWOs), negotiate terms, and track payments. - Update CPM schedules; produce six‑week/look‑ahead schedules. - Submit RFIs, manage and track submittals, and redline drawings for as‑built documentation. - Coordinate between subcontractors, trades, and the superintendent; serve as main point of contact for site‑specific subcontractors. - Produce or supervise shop drawings; manage shop drawing quality and compliance. - Inspect and supervise field work, ensuring adherence to drawings, specifications, and safety standards. - Order long‑lead and specialty materials, monitoring inventory and delivery status. - Resolve technical issues with architects/engineers; prepare submittals for work. - Produce and maintain documentation (cost reports, RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, as‑built redlines). Required Skills: - Strong written and verbal communication. - Proficient in construction cost reporting and schedule software (e.g., Primavera/CPM). - Basic understanding of construction drawings and specifications. - Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and manage logistics. - Attention to detail and organizational skills. - Familiarity with safety protocols and site regulations. Required Education & Certifications: - Currently enrolled in an accredited 4‑year university program pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline. - No specific certifications required, though knowledge of industry standards (e.g., OSHA, AIA) is advantageous.
