Job Description

Job Title: Robotics Software Engineer – Life Sciences Role Summary: Design, develop, and deploy autonomous robotic solutions that automate laboratory processes for drug discovery and biological research. Work in simulation and on physical robotic arms to integrate motion planning, vision, and control systems. Collaborate with scientists to translate experimental protocols into scalable, robust robotic workflows. Expectations: Deliver end-to-end software and algorithmic solutions that meet laboratory performance requirements. Demonstrate strong problem‑solving skills, effective cross‑functional communication, and a hands‑on approach to troubleshooting. Maintain high code quality and documentation for production‑grade robotics software. Key Responsibilities: - Design and implement motion planning and trajectory optimization algorithms for laboratory‑grade robotic manipulators. - Develop control and perception modules to reliably handle lab consumables and equipment. - Integrate, test, and debug software across simulation environments and real‑world robots. - Translate experimental workflows into automated solutions in collaboration with bench scientists. - Ensure robustness, scalability, and operational simplicity of robotic systems. Required Skills: - 4+ years of experience designing and building algorithms for robotic systems. - Expertise with robotic arms/manipulator platforms. - Proficiency in Python and strong software engineering practices in production settings. - Solid background in motion planning, kinematics/dynamics, or control theory. - Comfortable troubleshooting, debugging, and iterating across hardware and simulation. - Flexible, self‑motivated, and willing to wear multiple hats. Nice to Have: simulation tools (PyBullet, MuJoCo), lab/manufacturing robotics exposure, mechanical CAD (SolidWorks), knowledge of communication protocols (ZMQ, gRPC, Redis). Required Education & Certifications: - BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
