Job Description
**Job title:** AWS Cloud Engineer – 2nd Line Support (Contract) **Role Summary:** Provide second‑line technical support for a large AWS cloud environment, troubleshooting incidents, optimizing performance, and maintaining infrastructure. Collaborate with DevOps, third‑line teams, and architects to resolve complex issues and uphold operational standards. **Expectations:** - Deliver rapid, effective resolution of cloud incidents and performance problems. - Maintain operational excellence, compliance, and documentation. - Work independently with minimal oversight, prioritizing tasks in a dynamic environment. **Key Responsibilities:** 1. Diagnose and resolve AWS‑related incidents, performance degradations, and configuration errors. 2. Support deployment, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of AWS resources (EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, CloudWatch, Lambda, etc.). 3. Coordinate with 3rd‑line engineers, DevOps, and architecture teams to investigate and remediate complex issues. 4. Enforce security and operational policies across cloud infrastructure. 5. Produce and update technical documentation, runbooks, and process improvement notes. 6. Participate in on‑call rotation and incident escalation as required. **Required Skills:** - Hands‑on experience with core AWS services: EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, CloudWatch, Lambda, etc. - Proficient in Linux and Windows system administration. - Strong networking knowledge: DNS, routing, load balancing, firewall configuration. - Familiarity with IaC tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation. - Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices. - Demonstrated 2nd‑line or operational support experience in a cloud environment. - Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and documentation abilities. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience). - AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or higher (preferred). - Additional certifications (e.g., AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer) are a plus.
