Job Description
Job Title: Digital Communications Officer (Maternity Cover) Role Summary: Support the Digital Communications Manager in developing, executing, and evaluating digital campaigns to enhance the organisation’s reputation. Produce high‑quality written and visual content across social media, email, and website, ensuring brand consistency, accessibility, and data‑driven optimisation. Expectations: - Deliver engaging digital content that aligns with brand standards and audience needs. - Achieve measurable engagement and reach targets through evidence‑based communication strategies. - Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness to urgent communication needs, while maintaining quality and timeliness. Key Responsibilities: - Create and curate written and visual content for LinkedIn, X, Instagram, Bluesky, YouTube, email, and the website. - Collaborate with the Digital Communications Manager, Creative Content Manager, and cross‑functional teams on content projects. - Implement and monitor digital communication plans, focusing on optimisation, consistency, accessibility, and impact. - Identify and pursue digital opportunities, staying current with new technologies (e.g., AI) and evaluating ethical and reputational risks. - Record and analyse digital metrics using tools such as Google Analytics, social media dashboards, and email performance reports. - Manage email campaigns through Dotdigital and Salesforce, ensuring compliance and effectiveness. - Capture, edit, and share short‑form video content for multi‑platform campaigns. - Foster working relationships with peer organisations, government departments, universities, and research funders to support collaborative communication efforts. Required Skills: - Strong interest in science and health communications. - Proficiency in digital platforms, including CMS, CRM (Salesforce), and email marketing systems (Dotdigital). - Knowledge of current social media trends and short‑form video production. - Competence in digital monitoring, evaluation, and reporting; experience with Google Analytics and social media analytics tools. - Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to translate copy into engaging, accessible digital formats. - Visual content design awareness and basic graphic editing skills. - Team orientation with collaborative mindset. - Strong organisational and multitasking abilities, meeting deadlines in a fast‑paced environment. - Awareness of reputational risk and ability to handle reactive communication tasks flexibly. Required Education & Certifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Media, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in digital communication.
