Job Description
Job title: Research Scientist Role Summary: Lead and execute clinical research focused on traumatic brain injury (TBI) to yield translatable findings that enhance force readiness and resilience. Drives study design, protocol development, data collection, analysis, and dissemination within a multidisciplinary research portfolio. Expactations: - 2‑3 years post‑doctoral human subjects research experience with a robust publication record. - Proven ability to prepare grant proposals, IRB submissions, and scientific manuscripts. - Demonstrated experience with advanced statistical analysis, database management, and collection of physiological/time‑series data. - Strong collaborative skills and autonomous work style. Key Responsibilities: - Design and develop experimental hypotheses and study protocols aligned with DoD/TBICoE priorities. - Draft and submit grant proposals and IRB protocols, ensuring regulatory compliance. - Manage databases and perform statistical analysis (e.g., ANOVA, regression, SEM, mixed models, bootstrapping) using SPSS, R, or SAS. - Process and analyze physiological data (HRV, EEG, eye tracking, pupillometry) and time‑series data. - Prepare reports, presentations, and manuscripts for journals and conferences; present findings at scientific meetings. - Collaborate with study coordinators, other research scientists, and multidisciplinary teams across the TBICoE network. - Troubleshoot technical procedures and maintain research productivity. Required Skills: - Proficiency in at least one statistical software package (SPSS, R, SAS). - Knowledge of human subjects research regulations and best practices. - Advanced data analysis techniques (cluster analysis, SEM, mixed modeling). - Basic/advanced physiological and time‑series data processing. - Strong written and verbal communication, teamwork, and independent problem‑solving. - Competence with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Required Education & Certifications: - Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, Experimental Psychology, Neuroscience, Sports Medicine, Epidemiology, or a related discipline preferred; master’s with ≥7 years clinical TBI research experience may be considered. - Minimum of 2‑3 years post‑doctoral clinical human subjects research experience. - Completion of CITI/HIPAA training.
