Job Description
Job title: Entry Level Java Developer Role Summary: Supports application development and maintenance in a transportation and distribution IT environment. Supports SDLC from design through production and participates in process improvement, documentation, and off‑hour support rotations. Expectations: Complete a brief training period, deliver assignments on schedule, contribute to evolving development practices, provide clear documentation, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams. Key Responsibilities: - Analyze user requirements and translate them into design specifications. - Design, code, test, and deploy Java applications using best practices. - Maintain and improve existing codebases, ensuring extensibility and maintainability. - Participate in code reviews, CI/CD pipelines, and quality assurance. - Provide off‑hour support as part of a rotation schedule. - Develop technical documentation and user guides. - Assist in establishing coding standards, design patterns, and workflow improvements. Required Skills: - Proficiency in Java development and object‑oriented design. - Experience with version control systems (Git, Subversion). - Knowledge of CI/CD tools (TeamCity, Jenkins, Bamboo). - Familiarity with code review platforms (UpSource, Collaborator, Crucible). - Understanding of relational databases (MariaDB, MySQL, PostgreSQL). - Ability to write clean, well‑documented, and testable code. - Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills. - Capacity to work independently and manage multiple tasks under pressure.
