**Key Responsibilities**
1. Define strategic vision, product roadmap, and technical architecture for BAE.
2. Design and implement a cloud‑native data ecosystem with scalability, reliability, and security.
3. Recruit, manage, and mentor a cross‑functional team of engineers, program managers, and bioinformaticians.
4. Own delivery of data ingestion, harmonization pipelines, analysis workspaces, and collaborative code tools.
5. Execute build‑vs‑buy decisions, negotiate with platform vendors, and integrate third‑party solutions.
6. Build and maintain strategic partnerships with key data platform owners (e.g., Allen Brain Institute, FNIH AMP‑PD, Gates Alzheimer’s Initiative).
7. Drive usability and user success initiatives, incorporating user feedback into product development.
8. Architect governance, security, and compliance frameworks; ensure HIPAA, GDPR, and other regulatory adherence; lead security training and breach monitoring.
9. Collaborate with operations and compliance consultants to implement data protection best practices.

- Architecture of large‑scale, cloud‑based data platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience with data ingestion, harmonization, and multi‑modal biomedical data pipelines.
- Proven ability to build and lead engineering teams; strong mentorship and people management.
- Vendor management and “build‑vs‑buy” strategy execution.
- Deep knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance (HIPAA, GDPR, data‑use contracts).
- Stakeholder engagement with scientific and research communities.
- Strong problem‑solving, strategic planning, and communication skills.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Bioinformatics, or related field.
- 15+ years of technical leadership experience, with a track record of delivering large data platforms.
- Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Professional Cloud Architect, or equivalent are preferred.
