Job Description
**Job Title**: 3D Technical Artist (Intern / Contractor) – Blender [Remote] **Role Summary**: Provide high‑quality hard‑surface vehicle game assets in Blender for game, simulation, and training projects. Optimize geometry and textures to meet technical specifications while delivering fully packaged, export‑ready assets. **Expectations**: - Commit at least 20 hours per week. - Minimum contract duration of 3 months, with flexible scheduling. - Remote work; maintain ongoing communication with the IT Special Projects Team. **Key Responsibilities**: - Design and model hard‑surface vehicle assets in Blender from source images and research. - Adhere to asset specs: polycount < 65K triangles, file size, format, and texture requirements. - Package assets with proper folder structure and compression guidelines. - Export final models to DAE, OBJ, FBX and other required formats. - Deliver Blender (.blend) source files and document Blender version used. - Perform texture painting, UV mapping, and material setup to achieve visual fidelity. - Verify compliance with stakeholder guidelines and iterate based on feedback. - Maintain a clean, organized project archive for collaborative workflow. **Required Skills**: - Proficient Blender modeling, sculpting, and animation tools. - Strong hard‑surface vehicle asset portfolio. - Ability to optimize assets for performance (low‑poly, efficient textures). - Experience with texture painting, UV layout, and material creation in Blender. - Competence in exporting to OBJ, FBX, DXF and interpreting format specifications. - Attention to detail and ability to follow technical documentation. - Self‑motivated, good time‑management, and clear communication. **Required Education & Certifications**: - 1 + year professional experience or equivalent portfolio demonstrating Blender hard‑surface modeling for games or simulations. - No mandatory degree or certification required; portfolio and experience are the primary criteria.
