Job Description: **Job Title** System & Infrastructure Engineer (Linux/OpenStack) **Role Summary** Responsible for the stability, performance, and evolution of a critical 24/7 hotel‑booking platform. Works in partnership with the Technical Lead to administer a cloud‑native private OpenStack environment, manage physical hardware remotely, and implement DevOps pipelines across multiple environments. Drives reliability and security compliance (PCI DSS) while handling servers, networking, databases, and monitoring tools. **Expectations** - Autonomous operation in a high‑availability, mission‑critical environment. - Proactive maintenance and issue resolution for mixed Linux/Windows infrastructure. - Continuous improvement of cloud, automation, and security practices. **Key Responsibilities** 1. **Cloud & Hardware Administration** - Administer and evolve OpenStack (4‑node cluster, MAAS, Juju). - Coordinate remote hardware provisioning and replacement in a datacenter. - Configure multi‑environment provisioning with Chef+Kitchen; maintain GitLab & Jenkins CI/CD pipelines. 2. **Operations (Run)** - Maintain Linux Ubuntu and Windows Server availability. - Manage web services (Apache) and mail services (Postfix, Cyrus). - Oversee backup strategy and disaster‑recovery plans (PRA/PCA). - Implement proactive monitoring using Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK stack. 3. **Projects: Database, Network & Security** - Lead migration of SQL Server databases to a highly‑available Linux architecture. - Administer firewall (SonicWall) and VPN solutions (IPsec, OpenVPN). **Required Skills** - Linux administration (Ubuntu/Debian) with strong scripting in Bash/Python. - DevOps tools: Chef, Kitchen, Jenkins, GitLab, Git. - OpenStack administration and understanding of MAAS, Juju. - Virtualization: KVM, OpenStack, basic hypervisor management. - Monitoring & log management: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack. - Networking: SonicWall firewall, IPsec/OpenVPN. - Database: SQL Server migration, MariaDB, basic HA concepts. - Security: PCI DSS knowledge, backup & recovery practices. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience). - Certifications preferred: Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), OpenStack Certified Engineer (OSE), or equivalent Linux/DevOps credentials.
