**Job Title:** Data Science Manager
**Role Summary:**
Lead and grow a team of 2‑6 full‑stack data scientists delivering end‑to‑end machine learning solutions for fraud detection and financial risk mitigation. Serve as a hands‑on technical contributor while providing people leadership, project planning, and cross‑functional coordination with product, engineering, and executive stakeholders.
**Expectations:**
- Drive high‑impact ML modeling, experimentation, and production deployments.
- Build and mentor a high‑performing data science team in a fast‑paced, ambiguous environment.
- Align technical initiatives with business objectives and ensure timely delivery.
- Communicate findings and roadmap to executive leadership clearly and persuasively.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Manage hiring, onboarding, performance, and career development of 2‑6 data scientists.
- Design, develop, and deploy production‑grade ML models covering data acquisition, feature engineering, training, monitoring, and real‑time inference.
- Lead cross‑functional project planning, set timelines, and coordinate with product, engineering, and ops teams.
- Conduct research to incorporate new data sources, improve model accuracy, and expand fraud detection capabilities.
- Produce production‑ready Python code and maintain robust ML pipelines on AWS infrastructure.
- Develop analytical frameworks supporting strategy across data, operations, product, marketing, and sales.
**Required Skills:**
- Strong expertise in machine learning, statistical modeling, and experimental design.
- Proficiency in Python programming and building production‑ready code.
- Experience with data engineering tools: PostgreSQL, AWS (EC2, S3, RDS, Redshift).
- Proven ability to lead end‑to‑end ML projects from concept to deployment and monitoring.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills for executive audiences.
- Demonstrated problem‑solving for complex business challenges using ML/analytics.
- Ability to thrive in high‑growth, ambiguous settings with a bias toward execution.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, or related field + 10+ years of data science/ML experience, **or** PhD + 5+ years of experience.
- Minimum 3 years of direct management experience of data science teams.
- No specific certifications required; relevant technical certifications (e.g., AWS, TensorFlow) are a plus.
