Job Description
**Job title**: Regional Account Manager – Outside Sales (Steel) **Role Summary**: Lead sales and profitability for a designated territory of flat‑rolled carbon steel accounts. Drive revenue growth, retain existing customers, secure new business, and optimize gross profit through strategic account management and cost‑control initiatives. **Expectations** - Increase territorial sales and maintain or raise gross profit margin. - Deliver accurate, timely performance reporting and actionable insights. - Build and sustain strong relationships with key accounts. - Identify and execute opportunities for new customer acquisition. - Support the Cost/Overstock program to reduce inventory waste. - Travel 3‑4 days/week; work from home on non‑travel days. **Key Responsibilities** - Manage territory sales pipeline, forecasting, and quota attainment. - Review daily month‑to‑date (MTD) sales and gross profit, and prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual summaries. - Schedule and conduct meetings with top 25 accounts and key prospects. - Analyze account performance, identify trends, and recommend actions. - Collaborate with Outside Sales Manager on strategy, call reports, and territory development. - Maintain up‑to‑date territory maps and customer databases. - Monitor and report on impact of accounts on Cost/Overstock program. - Achieve cost‑control targets within first six months. **Required Skills** - Proven outside sales experience in steel or heavy‑industry commodity. - Deep understanding of flat‑rolled carbon steel products and market dynamics. - Strong territory planning, pipeline management, and account‑development skills. - Ability to interpret sales metrics, forecast, and drive margin improvement. - Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation abilities. - Proficiency with CRM platforms (e.g., Salesforce), Microsoft Office, and Excel advanced functions. - Self‑directed, highly organized, and able to travel 3‑4 days/week. - Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or related field (preferred). - Demonstrated record of meeting or exceeding sales targets. - Completion of drug screening, confidentiality agreement, and driving record release as prerequisites. ---
