Job Description
**Job Title:** Senior Mortgage Lender **Role Summary:** Originate and process first mortgage and home‑equity loans, actively solicit business through referral partners and community outreach, ensure compliance with banking regulations and fair lending laws, and promote the lender’s product line to real estate professionals. **Expectations:** * Regular travel to meet referral partners and attend community events. * Manage multiple loan applications and deadlines with high accuracy. * Maintain confidentiality and uphold compliance standards. * Demonstrate strong initiative, analytical ability, and communication skills. **Key Responsibilities:** 1. Travel to solicit mortgage and home‑equity business from realtors, builders, financial planners, insurance agents, attorneys, and community organizations. 2. Meet with prospective and existing customers at varied locations to discuss loan options. 3. Complete loan applications and all pre‑processing tasks, gathering required documentation per bank policy and underwriting guidelines. 4. Explain underwriting guidelines and applicable regulations to clients. 5. Screen loan requests against bank policies and product mix. 6. Propose suitable loan products and review terms with clients. 7. Monitor and research new legislation affecting residential lending; advise senior management and implement necessary changes. 8. Handle inbound calls, schedule appointments, and communicate approvals or denials to borrowers and partners. 9. Distribute market data, rate flyers, and loan information to the real‑estate community. 10. Promote and participate in special credit and CRA programs. 11. Maintain relationships with local builders, brokers, agents, customers, and prospects. 12. Perform any other duties assigned that support key accountabilities. **Required Skills:** * 5+ years of mortgage lending experience in a financial institution or loan office. * Bachelor’s degree in Business or Finance, or 3 years of equivalent experience. * In-depth knowledge of mortgage lending practices, banking policies, and regulatory requirements. * Solid understanding of fair lending laws and compliance requirements. * Advanced computer literacy (Word, Excel); strong data entry skills and proficiency with spreadsheet formulas. * Ability to learn and use specific loan processing software. * High initiative, thoroughness, accuracy, organizational and detail‑oriented mindset. * Analytical problem‑solving ability. * Strong verbal and written communication skills. * Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet varied deadlines. * Commitment to confidentiality. **Required Education & Certifications:** * Bachelor’s degree in Business or Finance (or equivalent work experience).
