**Job Title:** Commercial Lawyer **Role Summary:** Provide legal counsel to external clients on commercial contracts, business law, data protection, and intellectual property. Deliver outsourced in‑house legal services across diverse industries, ensuring high‑quality, client‑focused legal support. **Expectations:** - Newly or recently qualified lawyer, capable of working independently and proactively. - Demonstrated ability to draft, negotiate, and review commercial agreements and provide clear, actionable advice. - Strong client communication and relationship‑building skills, with a focus on client satisfaction. - Commitment to ongoing professional development and keeping up to date with commercial, data protection, and IP law. **Key Responsibilities:** - Draft, negotiate, and review commercial contracts and other transactional documents. - Provide advice on commercial & business law matters, including company law, sales, and dispute prevention. - Support clients on data protection compliance (GDPR/UK‑DPA) and IP issues (trademarks, copyrights, patents). - Act as the primary legal resource for outsourced in‑house legal services, liaising with client stakeholders and internal teams. - Conduct legal research, risk assessment, and prepare client briefs and reports. - Mentor junior associates or trainees as needed. - Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of legislation, case law, and industry developments relevant to client portfolios. **Required Skills:** - Advanced contract drafting and negotiation. - In‑depth knowledge of commercial & business law, data protection, and intellectual property. - Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. - Excellent written and oral communication, client‑presenting. - Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively. - Professional demeanor and integrity. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Qualified solicitor or barrister in England & Wales (or equivalent UK qualification). - Completion of a training contract (or equivalent to a newly qualified status). - Basic knowledge or certification in GDPR/UK‑DPA compliance and IP law is an advantage. - UK law degree or equivalent; LLM or specialised commercial law qualifications preferred.
