Job Description
**Job Title** Head of New Business Development – ALDI & LIDL (FMCG) **Role Summary** Lead strategic acquisition and growth of new major discount retailer accounts, initially focusing on Aldi and Lidl, within the Health & Beauty & Personal Care division of an FMCG group. Own the full pipeline from prospecting to profitable contract execution, collaborating with commercial and national account teams to secure and grow retail shelf space and product listings. **Expectations** - Deliver measurable new‑business wins and revenue growth across Aldi, Lidl, and related discount retailers. - Build and maintain profitable P&L performance for assigned accounts. - Provide strategic brand positioning, market insight, and go‑to‑market plans that align with corporate objectives. - Act as a trusted commercial partner to internal stakeholders and external retailers. **Key Responsibilities** - Prospect, negotiate, and secure new partnership agreements with Aldi, Lidl, and other major discount chains. - Develop and present compelling brand propositions and trade strategies tailored to each retailer’s policy and consumer insights. - Manage end‑to‑end account lifecycle: pricing, assortment, promotions, supply chain, and performance analysis. - Lead cross‑functional coordination with Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, and National Accounts to ensure successful launch and ongoing performance. - Track and report key performance metrics; use data to refine strategy and drive continuous improvement. - Foster strong relationships with retail buyers and senior decision makers to influence shelf space, placement, and promotional support. **Required Skills** - 7–10 years of FMCG commercial experience, with a proven record of winning new business and delivering profitable sales in grocery/discounter channels. - Deep knowledge of UK grocery trade, particularly Aldi and Lidl account management practices. - Strong negotiation, presentation, and communication skills. - Ability to develop data‑driven trade strategies and manage P&L accountability. - Hands‑on, entrepreneurial mindset with a “hunter” attitude toward new opportunities. - Excellent stakeholder‑management and influence across all levels. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (master’s preferred). - Professional certifications in sales, negotiation, or FMCG trade (e.g., Diploma in Retail Management) strongly regarded.
