Job Description

Job title: Senior Backend Software Engineer – Card Services (Contract) Role Summary Lead design, implementation and maintenance of scalable backend services that support card issuing and transaction processing. Own end‑to‑end components from API definition to cloud deployment, ensuring reliability, security and regulatory compliance. Expectations * 4–6+ years of professional software development experience * One‑year contract with potential conversion to full time * Strong ownership mindset, proactive problem solving, and high technical quality * Ability to collaborate with product, infrastructure and financial teams Key Responsibilities * Build and maintain Go‑based microservices for card issuance, processing and settlement * Design and evolve RESTful APIs documented with OpenAPI, for internal use and partner integration * Store and query relational data in PostgreSQL (Cloud SQL/AlloyDB) and cache traffic in Redis * Deploy services on GKE/Cloud Run using Terraform, Argo and GitLab CI/CD pipelines * Refactor legacy code, implement automated tests, review, and enforce coding standards * Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices across the team * Engage with payment‑rail and financial compliance stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions * Analyze performance, troubleshoot production incidents and drive continuous improvement Required Skills * Proficient in Go (Golang) or an equivalent opinionated language * Strong relational‑database design and SQL expertise (PostgreSQL preferred) * Experience with RESTful API design, OpenAPI specification and client integration * Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform services (Compute, Kubernetes, Pub/Sub, Cloud SQL, Cloud Memorystore) * CI/CD experience with Terraform, Argo, and GitLab pipelines * Ability to write clean, tested, and maintainable code, and perform thorough code reviews * Excellent communication, analytical, and problem‑solving skills Required Education & Certifications * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent professional experience) * No mandatory certifications required; industry‑relevant credentials (e.g., GCP Cloud Engineer) considered a plus.
