**Job title**
IT Support Technician
**Role Summary**
Provide comprehensive on‑site IT support at a (private) educational institution. Responsibilities include maintaining infrastructure, troubleshooting servers, networks, and end‑user devices, managing Microsoft services and cloud resources, and ensuring safe and reliable technology for staff, students, and day‑to‑day classroom use.
**Expectations**
- Full‑time (37.5 hrs/week) or term‑time +4‑week schedule (39 weeks +3 days)
- On‑site presence with prompt in‑person response to support tickets
- Collaboration with senior engineer, onsite team, and external vendors
- Deliver a high‑quality helpdesk experience, timely issue resolution, and maintain professional communication.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Administer and maintain servers, network infrastructure, and Wi‑Fi.
- Install, configure, and support desktop/laptop PCs, tablets, printers, and touchscreens.
- Manage Microsoft Azure AD, Office 365, Exchange Online, and associated services.
- Configure and maintain Mobile Device Management (Intune or JAMF).
- Coordinate vendor procurement of consumables and hardware.
- Update and maintain IT asset registers and technical documentation.
- Perform routine classroom IT checks to prevent disruptions.
- Monitor systems for viruses, malfunctions, and security incidents; report promptly.
- Ensure all student‑facing systems comply with safeguarding and child‑safe content policies.
- Assist with student device support during peak periods.
- Support cloud‑based services and, when applicable, VMware ESXi/vSphere environments.
**Required Skills**
- ≥ 1 year of experience in computer networks and system maintenance.
- Proficiency with Windows operating systems and Microsoft desktop/server applications.
- Microsoft administration skills (Windows Server, Office 365, Azure AD).
- Strong troubleshooting and customer‑service abilities.
- Familiarity with Intune, JAMF, SaaS, VMware ESXi, vSphere, Apple hardware/macOS/iOS (desirable).
- Understanding of web and e‑mail security, particularly child‑safeguarding requirements.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Relevant IT qualification or equivalent experience (e.g., Microsoft Certified – Azure Fundamentals, Microsoft 365 Certified, Windows Server or similar).
- Valid child‑safeguarding or online‑risk awareness training/certification is preferred.
