Job Description: **Job title** Backend Software Engineer (Python) **Role Summary** Design, implement, and maintain a robust cloud‑based server architecture for a connected medical device, focusing on secure data handling, AI workflows, and device integration within a public cloud environment. **Expectations** - Deliver end‑to‑end cloud solutions that meet medical software standards and regulatory requirements. - Own large‑scale system design decisions and produce clear technical documentation. - Ensure code quality, reproducibility, and strong security posture for PHI/PII data. - Collaborate across teams, integrating sensor, time‑series, and machine‑learning data pipelines. **Key Responsibilities** - Architect and build scalable APIs, data pipelines, and secure storage layers in the cloud. - Design and manage databases, application servers, and storage solutions. - Contribute to high‑level system design and device/client software integration. - Document architectural decisions and design rationale. - Enforce compliance with medical software regulations (HIPAA, FDA guidelines). - Apply cybersecurity best practices to protect sensitive medical data. - Maintain clean, well‑documented, production‑grade Python code. **Required Skills** - Extensive experience building cloud‐based software systems. - Production‑quality Python for backend development. - Expertise in data pipeline design, relational/no‑SQL databases, application servers, and secure storage. - Deep understanding of the full software lifecycle for medical data products. - Proven experience developing HIPAA‑compliant systems handling PHI/PII. - Practical knowledge of cybersecurity principles for cloud services. - (Preferred) Knowledge of medical sensor, time‑series, or brain‑data processing. - (Preferred) Integration with modern ML/Data Science workflows. - (Preferred) CI/CD and DevOps experience, especially in Azure. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical field. - Professional certifications in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and/or HIPAA compliance are advantageous.
