Job Description
**Job Title** Senior FX Artist (Permanent Full‑Time) **Role Summary** Lead the design and production of high‑quality visual effects simulations for large‑scale film, television and advertising projects. Work closely with FX, CG, layout, lighting, and compositing teams to deliver photorealistic, narrative‑aligned effects using Houdini and related procedural tools. **Expectations** * Minimum 10 years of experience on studio‑level VFX productions with a focus on complex simulations (fire, smoke, liquids, destruction, abstract effects). * Proven track record of high‑level finishing on high‑budget projects. * Ability to attend studio 3‑day per week, with flexible remote work permitted for remaining days. * Self‑directed production from concept through final rendering, ensuring quality control and adherence to technical conventions. * Active participation in daily reviews, creative feedback sessions, and cross‑department collaboration. * Commitment to continuous learning and knowledge sharing within the FX team. **Key Responsibilities** 1. Produce complex simulations (Pyro, Flip, RBD, Vellum, SOPs) that meet artistic and technical guidelines. 2. Optimize caches, maintain stable setups, and follow internal naming and pipeline conventions. 3. Conduct rigorous quality checks on files, caches, and work‑files prior to submission. 4. Offer creative solutions that simplify workflows while aligning with the project vision. 5. Integrate effects with layout, lighting, and compositing; test and resolve compatibility issues. 6. Provide realistic time estimates, communicate risks, and adjust priorities with production leads. 7. Mentor junior FX artists; document best practices and contribute to departmental workflow improvements. 8. Stay current with industry advancements and apply new techniques to improve delivery. **Required Skills** * Advanced proficiency in Houdini (Pyro, Flip, RBD, Vellum, SOPs) and procedural FX creation. * Strong understanding of physics simulations, rendering pipelines, and optimization techniques. * Excellent visual judgement, artistic eye for realism and stylization. * Ability to troubleshoot technical problems swiftly and implement effective solutions. * Clear communication and collaborative mindset across multidisciplinary teams. * Familiarity with pipeline integration tools and version control systems. **Required Education & Certifications** * Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Visual Effects, Computer Graphics, Animation, or related field. * Industry‑recognised certifications in Houdini or VFX production are a plus. * 5+ years (recommended) in a studio VFX environment, with 10+ years of delivering complex effects.
