Job Description
**Job Title:** Communications Practicum Student **Role Summary:** Provide hands‑on communication support for a non‑profit focused on substance‑use recovery and community inclusion. Build a storytelling database, create multimedia content, and assist in internal/external communications, working closely with the Communications Lead and program staff. **Expactations:** - Complete a Criminal Records Check. - Work within flexible, academic‑aligned hours. - Maintain strict confidentiality and ethical storytelling standards. **Key Responsibilities:** - Conduct and transcribe client, alumni, and staff interviews under supervision. - Draft short‑form and long‑form narratives for newsletters, website, and internal publications. - Produce social media posts and templates for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc. - Organize stories into a themed database (e.g., recovery, innovation, reconciliation). - Support photography, video, or graphic elements as needed. - Contribute to content for annual reports and donor updates. - Verify accuracy, maintain confidentiality, and ensure respectful representation of all participants. **Required Skills:** - Strong written communication, editing, and storytelling. - Basic knowledge of social media platforms and content planning tools. - Empathetic, respectful communication with diverse populations. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively. - (Optional) Photography, video editing, or graphic design skills. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Current enrollment in a communications, journalism, public relations, digital media, marketing, social work, or related program. - Valid Criminal Records Check.
