Deputy Security Manager

Job Description

**Job Title:** Deputy Security Manager **Role Summary:** Supports the Security Manager in ensuring compliance with national and international laws, regulations, and company security policies for a nuclear enrichment technology organization. Oversees physical, personnel, documents, and IT security, coordinates with regulatory bodies, provides training, and manages security inspections and clearances. **Expectations:** - Deliver evidence of compliance and security performance. - Serve as a liaison with the Office for Nuclear Regulation and other governmental bodies. - Identify and implement security improvements. - Maintain a collaborative, multicultural approach across multiple sites. - Demonstrate flexibility to travel as required. **Key Responsibilities:** - Ensure statutory and corporate compliance for all operations. - Report security failures to senior owners and, if necessary, to the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR). - Maintain communication with ONR and act as the interface between the regulator and the company. - Produce written security reports, instructions, and procedures. - Deliver security education and training to employees, contractors, and suppliers. - Coordinate external security services (guarding, etc.) and physical protection of facilities. - Manage cyber security for UK-based ICT elements. - Conduct security inspections and audits across all sites. - Oversee the acquisition and renewal of security clearances for personnel and suppliers. - Control access to classified information and materials. - Attend specialist training courses (e.g., Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure). - Liaise with international security, export control, and safeguards managers. - Manage export controls to meet national and international standards. - Coordinate nuclear safeguards compliance with IAEA and Euratom. - Handle European Commission compliance regulations applicable to the organization. **Required Skills:** - Strong communication and influencing abilities, including training delivery. - Proven experience in physical, personnel, document, and IT security. - Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary, multicultural teams. - Forward-thinking mindset with confidence in implementing change. - Flexibility and willingness to travel to other sites. **Required Education & Certifications:** - A good quality university degree. - Minimum 3 years of experience in a security role with knowledge of UK national security standards, preferably within the nuclear sector. - Familiarity with Office for Nuclear Regulation clearance processes and relevant regulatory frameworks.
