Situated in an iconic building in the heart of West Bromwich, the College attracts learners from across Birmingham and the Black Country. The majority of our learners are 16-18 and studying on full time courses; either vocational courses designed to prepare them for the modern workplace or academic study in our brand new sixth form Central Sixth. Job Description
**Job Title:** Lecturer in Automotive **Role Summary:** Deliver professional teaching, training, and assessment in vehicle mechanics within an automotive engineering program. Design and implement engaging, industry‑relevant lessons that promote active learning, skill development, and assessment of learner progress. Support curriculum development, continuous improvement, and student support to achieve high educational standards. **Expectations:** - Achieve and maintain high teaching and assessment quality. - Demonstrate current knowledge of automotive industry practices. - Participate collaboratively in curriculum planning and improvement activities. - Adhere to safeguarding, health & safety, data protection, and institutional policies. - Comply with professional development requirements and pursue recognised teaching qualification where not already held. **Key Responsibilities:** - Plan, deliver, and assess ICT‑supported lessons and training units. - Create engaging materials and assessments to accelerate learning. - Manage learner progress, achievement, and retention, addressing issues proactively. - Contribute to curriculum review, design, and continuous improvement. - Maintain up‑to‑date industry knowledge through CPD. - Operate flexibly across sites, including evenings and weekend sessions as required. **Required Skills:** - Minimum 5 years of automotive industry experience (vehicle mechanics, repair, or related roles). - NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Automotive and GCSE Maths & English (Grade C/4 or above). - Experience in teaching, training, or workplace learning environments. - Strong knowledge of contemporary automotive practices and technologies. - Proficient in using ILT and multimedia resources for teaching. - Excellent organizational, administrative, and communication skills. - Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt to flexible hours. - Commitment to equality, diversity, and safeguarding principles. **Required Education & Certifications:** - NVQ Level 3 qualification in Automotive (or equivalent). - GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above). - Willingness to pursue a recognised teaching qualification (e.g., DTTLS, Certificate in Education, PGCE, DET, or DiT). ---
