**Job title** Contract Legal Counsel **Role Summary** Provide independent legal drafting, review, and negotiation of UK vendor, technology, procurement, and commercial contracts. Offer commercial‑focused advice on data protection (GDPR), consumer protection, and FCA governance. Support the team with US contract drafting as required, conduct GDPR audit preparation, and manage subject‑access requests. **Expectations** - UK‑qualified lawyer with 3–5 years post‑qualification experience, preferably in in‑house or B2C tech/customer‑focus environment. - Demonstrated ability to draft clear, commercially sound contracts and negotiate key risk allocations. - Strong understanding of EU/UK data protection laws and practical application. - Proactive, collaborative, and commercially minded approach. **Key Responsibilities** - Draft, review, and negotiate UK vendor, technology, procurement, and commercial contracts independently. - Update and improve standard contract templates; provide guidance on drafting techniques. - Draft and review US contracts on an ad‑hoc basis (no US law required). - Advise on data protection matters, support GDPR annual audit, and handle subject‑access requests and complaints. - Negotiate and draft data‑processing agreements. - Provide assistance on consumer protection rules and regulatory requirements. - Draft and maintain Terms & Conditions; support FCA‑related governance, risk register, and litigation log. - Monitor regulatory changes, issue updates to business stakeholders. - Collaborate with external counsel when necessary. **Required Skills** - UK law qualification (Solicitor or Barrister). - Excellent contractual drafting in English with emphasis on precision and commercial viability. - Proficient negotiation skills, including indemnity, liability, and risk allocation. - In‑depth knowledge of data protection regulations (GDPR, UK DPA). - Commercial and pragmatic mindset, able to manage all contractual activities autonomously. - Strong communication, collaboration, and proactive problem‑solving abilities. **Required Education & Certifications** - UK Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) or equivalent bar admission. - Minimum 3–5 years post‑qualification experience in a corporate or technology‑driven setting. - Data protection training or certification is advantageous but not mandatory.
