Job Description
Job Title: Interpreter – Mandarin speaking Role Summary: Provide interpretation services between Mandarin‑speaking patients/families and healthcare providers in social, informational, and clinical settings. Full or part‑time, weekdays 8:00‑16:00, no nights, weekends, or holidays. Execute accurate, culturally sensitive translation while supporting clinic operations and safety protocols. Expactations: - Maintain medical terminology fluency in English and Mandarin. - Fulfill confidentiality and professional standards. - Complete interpretation tracking and documentation accurately. - Coordinate interpreter schedules and travel arrangements. - Adhere to mask and respirator compliance requirements. - Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to meet care goals. Key Responsibilities: - Deliver precise interpretation during patient encounters and informational sessions. - Manage appointment calendar and coordinate internal/external interpreter resources. - Accompany patients to outside appointments as needed. - Apply cultural competency to meet individual patient needs. - Record and maintain interpretation logs and compliance documents. - Schedule agency interpreters for site appointments. - Support administrative and operational tasks to achieve team objectives. - Perform additional duties as assigned, including safety protocol enforcement. Required Skills: - Fluency in Mandarin and English (verbal and written). - Proficiency in medical terminology and related documentation. - Strong verbal communication and active listening. - Calendar management and organizational skills. - Cultural sensitivity and adaptability. - Competence with MS Office Suite. - Ability to travel locally and wear required personal protective equipment. Required Education & Certifications: - High School Diploma or equivalent. - Certified Medical Interpreter designation from an accredited post‑high school program. - 0‑2 years of healthcare interpretation experience preferred; elder‑care experience a plus.
