**Job title:** Senior Software Developer **Role Summary:** Lead backend development for a migration program modernizing a critical pharmaceutical platform. Responsible for refactoring legacy services, designing new microservices, and deploying solutions to Microsoft Azure, with optional involvement in AWS environments. **Expectations:** Deliver high‑quality, maintainable code on schedule. Perform deep technical consultancy on cloud strategy, architecture design, and DevOps integration. Act as a subject‑matter expert for backend modernization and ensure compliance with industry standards. **Key Responsibilities:** - Analyze and refactor legacy codebases to Azure‑compatible architectures. - Design, develop, and test new backend services (REST/GraphQL, microservices). - Implement CI/CD pipelines, containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes) and automated deployments to Azure. - Collaborate with DevOps teams to optimise cloud infrastructure and cost. - Conduct code reviews, mentor junior developers, and maintain documentation. - Troubleshoot production incidents and support post‑deployment monitoring. **Required Skills:** - 5+ years of professional backend development (Java, C#, Python, Node.js, or similar). - Strong experience with Azure (App Services, Functions, VMs, AKS, CI/CD, ARM templates). - Proficient with AWS services (EC2, RDS, S3, Lambda) and migration strategies. - Expertise in refactoring/rebuilding services for cloud platforms. - Hands‑on experience with Git, Azure DevOps or equivalent CI/CD tools. - Familiarity with containerisation (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes). - Solid understanding of API design, database optimisation, and security best practices. - Effective communication, problem‑solving, and teamwork skills. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience. - Preferred certifications: Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate, AWS Certified Developer – Associate, or similar.
