The legislation that created the Airport Authority mandates three main responsibilities: - Operate San Diego International Airport - Plan for the future air transportation needs of the region - Serve as the region’s Airport Land Use Commission and ensure the adoption of land use plans that protect public health and safety surrounding all 16 of the county’s airports. The Airport Authority is governed by an appointed board of nine members who represent all areas of San Diego County and three ex-officio members. Three members serve as the Executive Committee. **Job Title:** Security & Public Safety Analyst - Veteran Fellowship **Role Summary** Transition veterans to civilian careers by analyzing and enhancing security, safety, and compliance operations in an aviation environment. **Expectations** Demonstrate strategic thinking, operational precision, and collaboration to support regulatory compliance, emergency preparedness, and security program efficacy. **Key Responsibilities** - Oversee daily security operations, including database management, access control, and incident reporting. - Conduct facility inspections and maintain compliance with FAA Part 139 and other safety regulations. - Support emergency planning, drills, and the Notice of Violation (NOV) program. - Monitor commercial enforcement activities and ensure operational integrity in landside security. - Coordinate with regulatory agencies and stakeholders to strengthen safety protocols and response readiness. **Required Skills** - Regulatory compliance (e.g., FAA Part 139). - Incident reporting and data analysis. - Security database administration. - Risk assessment and emergency planning. - Interpersonal communication and stakeholder coordination. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in public safety, criminal justice, aviation, or related field. - FAA security certification or equivalent. - Knowledge of security management systems and access control technologies. - Valid driver’s license. - First aid/CPR certification preferred.
