**Job Title:** Senior Infrastructure Engineer
**Role Summary:**
Seasoned engineer responsible for the stability, security, and performance optimization of on‑premises and cloud infrastructure for a major enterprise client. Works within the infrastructure and cloud operations team to design, implement, and maintain reliable services, ensuring compliance with service level agreements (SLAs) and security standards.
**Expectations:**
- Deliver high‑availability infrastructure supporting critical business applications.
- Proactively identify and remediate performance, capacity, and security issues.
- Lead incident response and root‑cause analysis, driving continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support projects and migrations.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to best‑practice documentation.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Design, configure, and manage Windows and Linux servers, virtualisation (VMware/Hyper‑V) and container platforms.
- Administer public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) including networking, compute, storage, and security services.
- Implement and maintain infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform, ARM, CloudFormation) and automation scripts (PowerShell, Bash, Python).
- Monitor system health using tools such as Nagios, Zabbix, Splunk, or Azure Monitor; respond to alerts and perform triage.
- Conduct regular patching, hardening, and compliance checks; manage firewalls, VPNs, and IDS/IPS solutions.
- Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and cost‑optimization of resources.
- Participate in change management processes, ensuring proper documentation and risk assessment.
- Provide 24×7 on‑call support rotation for critical incidents.
**Required Skills:**
- 5+ years experience in enterprise infrastructure engineering.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Linux/Unix, and virtualization technologies.
- Hands‑on experience with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Proficiency in scripting/automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python) and IaC tools.
- Solid understanding of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPN, firewalls).
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions.
- Familiarity with security frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, CIS) and vulnerability management.
- Excellent problem‑solving, communication, and documentation skills.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Relevant certifications such as:
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect / Azure Administrator / Google Cloud Professional Engineer
- Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator
- VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
- ITIL Foundation or higher
- Cisco CCNP (optional)
- CompTIA Security+ (optional)
