Job title: Business Development Manager – Prairies
Role Summary: Lead profitable growth in the Alberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan foodservice markets by expanding distributor coverage, securing new accounts, and fostering strategic relationships with restaurants and chain operators.
Expectations:
- Achieve growth targets for the Prairies, with a focus on Alberta.
- Maintain high client satisfaction, loyalty, and retention while identifying expansion opportunities.
- Represent the company in trade shows, industry associations, and client events.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans aligned to company objectives.
- Acquire new customers, open new markets, and drive revenue growth through proactive, targeted outreach.
- Research market trends, competitor activity, and customer requirements to identify sustainable sales opportunities.
- Build and maintain relationships with independent restaurants, chain accounts, and broadline distributors.
- Manage high-level connections with distributors and strategic accounts.
- Conduct business review meetings with key customers to discuss performance and opportunities.
- Act as the company ambassador at trade shows, meetings, and industry events.
- Collaborate with internal sales teams, present insights at the national level.
Required Skills:
- Minimum of 5 years in business development, account management, or sales within the foodservice sector.
- Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, CRM software, and other communication tools.
- Autonomous, highly organized, and self‑motivated.
- Own vehicle and willingness to travel within the Calgary CMA and across Alberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan.
- Culinary knowledge is an asset.
- Social media and marketing background is a plus.
- Second language proficiency is an asset.
Required Education & Certifications:
- University degree in business, sales management, marketing, or related field.
- No specific certifications required, but relevant industry credentials are accepted.
