Job Description
**Job Title** Category Director – Food Retail **Role Summary** Senior strategic leader overseeing the entire food retail category. Responsible for defining global strategy, translating it into actionable plans, negotiating with suppliers, driving assortment and private‑label development, managing performance metrics, and leading a team of managers. **Expectations** - Deliver a clear, data‑driven category vision aligned with corporate objectives. - Execute strategy through sales plans, roadmaps, and promotional calendars. - Negotiate long‑term sourcing agreements and lead major product launches. - Achieve financial targets (sales, margin, market share) and implement optimization plans. - Build and develop a high‑performance team of approximately three direct reports. **Key Responsibilities** - Define, communicate, and deploy the overall category strategy with the executive team. - Construct and evolve the assortment to maximize customer value, competitiveness, and profitability. - Develop sales plans, category roadmaps, and promotional calendars in coordination with internal stakeholders. - Lead strategic negotiations with key supplier partners; set medium‑ to long‑term sourcing directions. - Define and accelerate private‑label strategy, supervising major product developments and launches. - Ensure category strategy aligns with the company’s vision, financial goals, and brand positioning. - Manage, structure, and grow a team of managers and category experts. - Monitor category performance (sales, margin, market share) and implement medium‑term optimization initiatives. **Required Skills** - Strategic leadership and vision setting. - Advanced financial analysis and performance management. - Complex negotiation and supplier relationship management. - Cross‑functional communication and stakeholder influence. - Team building, coaching, and performance development. - Resilience under pressure and focus on high results. **Required Education & Certifications** - Master’s degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or related field. - Minimum 7 years of proven experience in Category Management, Procurement, KAM, or equivalent retail functions. - Fluency in French, Dutch, and English (or equivalent multilingual capability).
