Our Sites: In Wigan our site processes and distributes pre-packed, ready to eat, fresh salad bags and bowls to some of the UK's well-known retailers and restaurants. In Lichfield, Staffordshire our site processes and distributes pre-packed, ready to eat fresh salad bags to some of the UK’s well-known retailers, under the Florette Brand. We also supply own label bags and bowls Axgro in Scunthorpe is a leading suppliers of cooked, pickled and flavored beetroot serving national and regional customers in retail and foodservice markets in the UK as well as exporting to Europe. Our Agrial Fresh Farms site is an Integrated farming operation based in Colchester, Essex. The salad farm provides baby leaf year-round to the UK, grown in polytunnels, and whole head and outdoor crops throughout the summer. The produce is supplied into our UK sites for processing and distribution.

Job Description
**Job title:** Machine Operative – Food Manufacturing **Role Summary:** Operate and maintain industrial retorts in a food production line, ensuring food safety, hygiene, and quality standards are met while performing basic preventive and corrective maintenance. **Expectations:** - Work a 4‑day on/4‑day off shift (07:00‑19:00). - Demonstrate a mechanical mindset and proactive improvement focus. - Communicate effectively with team members and support knowledge sharing. - Adhere to SOPs, safety, and hygiene procedures. **Key Responsibilities:** - Set up, run, and monitor retort cooking equipment. - Inspect and maintain machinery for integrity and functionality. - Identify, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical faults; raise escalation when needed. - Perform routine PPM tasks and support equipment installation. - Execute SOPs and ensure compliance with food hygiene and safety standards. - Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the CI framework. **Required Skills:** - Proven experience operating industrial cookers or retorts in an FMCG/food environment. - Mechanical thinking and basic asset care capability. - Strong communication and teamwork skills. - Self‑motivated, tenacious, and open to process improvement. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Level 2 Food Hygiene Qualification (desirable). - Relevant production/industrial experience in food manufacturing.
