Job Description
Job title: ILS Quantitative Developer Intern Role Summary: Support the Insurance Linked Securities (ILS) team in data acquisition, analysis, and metrics automation to evaluate and manage exposure to catastrophe events for credit strategies. Expectations: Deliver timely, high‑quality data products and analytics under tight deadlines; operate proactively with minimal supervision; maintain clear communication with stakeholders. Key Responsibilities - Build and maintain pipelines to ingest live catastrophe event data from public sources into the front‑office platform. - Use LLM APIs, web‑scraping tools, and text‑mining techniques to retrieve, parse, and format investment‑related notices and reports. - Automate extraction and analysis of catastrophe model outputs (SQL). - Model complex reinsurance treaties (cascading, inuring) in Python or R. - Compute expected loss breakdowns, historical impact estimates, and risk‑metric summaries; perform sensitivity tests. - Format outputs for integration into the Ouranos front‑office tool. - Assist in quantitative and qualitative analysis of catastrophe bonds; prepare materials for investment committee meetings. Required Skills - Proficiency in SQL and Python (or R). - Experience with complex data structures, web scraping, and/or LLM APIs. - Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities. - Excellent written and verbal communication. - High attention to detail, organization, and proactive mindset. - Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and synthesize information. - Fluent in English. Required Education & Certifications - Current university or engineering school student/graduate from a top institution with a background in Mathematics, Computer Science, or Data Science. - Prior internship or project experience in quantitative analysis or software development within finance, insurance, or asset‑management contexts (preferred).
