Job Description: **Job Title** Freelance Senior Functional Analyst – Insurance Sector **Role Summary** A senior functional analyst responsible for translating life‑insurance business requirements into detailed IT solutions across multiple ongoing projects. Works collaboratively with development, testing, and project management teams to deliver robust applications using COBOL, .NET, and API integration. **Expectations** - Deliver end‑to‑end functional specifications and test plans that align with business, IT, and quality objectives. - Maintain simultaneous project focus while ensuring consistency across scope, design, and delivery. - Operate in a bilingual environment (English plus Dutch or French) and attend on‑site sessions in Brussels. **Key Responsibilities** 1. Analyse high‑level business needs; produce functional requirements, process flows, and user stories. 2. Design UI, business logic, and data architecture components for life‑insurance products and contract management. 3. Collaborate with developers to groom backlog items and validate functional implementation. 4. Define, execute, and document functional and integration test cases; coordinate defect resolution with QA and development teams. 5. Support product owners and PMs in scope definition, risk assessment, and progress reporting. 6. Contribute to knowledge sharing and continual improvement of methodologies and tools. **Required Skills** - 5–8 years of experience as a functional or business analyst in insurance or banking, with a focus on life‑insurance when possible. - Proven ability in functional analysis, solution design, and requirements documentation. - Strong understanding of distributed systems, data integration, APIs (REST/SOAP), and database structures. - Proficiency with SQL and familiarity with reading intermediate COBOL or .NET code. - Experience collaborating in large‑scale projects and agile/scrum environments. - Excellent communication in English; Dutch and/or French is a plus. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, or related field. - Professional certifications such as CBAP, CBATL, or equivalent functional/ business analytics credentials are preferred.
