Job Description
**Job Title** AI Research Intern – Safe Neural Networks for Return‑to‑Play Prediction **Role Summary** Conduct research on uncertainty quantification and the design of prudent neural networks, applying these methods to predict the return‑to‑play (RTP) duration for injured football players. The intern will evaluate existing techniques, develop new approaches, process and analyze injury datasets, and deliver predictive models and insights. **Expectations** * Complete a 6‑month research project with deliverables including code, analysis, and written reports. * Keep up‑to‑date with relevant literature and communicate findings in English. * Work collaboratively with supervisors and ensure reproducible results. **Key Responsibilities** 1. Review and assess uncertainty‑quantification methods (deep ensembles, MC dropout, Bayesian NNs). 2. Propose and implement a prudent neural‑network architecture for RTP prediction. 3. Acquire, clean, and feature‑engineer data from Transfermarkt (injury and player attributes). 4. Perform exploratory data analysis and statistical trend identification. 5. Build and validate predictive models, evaluate calibration, and report performance metrics. 6. Create visualizations, technical documentation, and a final research report. 7. Present progress and results to the research team. **Required Skills** * Strong mathematics (statistics, probability, calculus). * Proficiency in machine learning and deep learning (PyTorch/TensorFlow). * Experience with uncertainty‑quantification techniques (deep ensembles, Monte‑Carlo dropout, Bayesian NNs). * Data manipulation (Python, pandas, NumPy). * Ability to read and interpret academic papers in English. * Good scientific writing and presentation skills. **Required Education & Certifications** * Master’s level (M2) or equivalent in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Machine Learning, or related field, with coursework in ML, DL, and probability. * Ongoing research or thesis work is advantageous.
