Job Description
**Job Title** Co-founder, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) **Role Summary** Act as the technical co‑founder of a technology‑enabled networking platform for French academia. Own the product’s technical vision, architecture, and execution while partnering closely with the CMO to drive growth. Responsible for scaling the existing MVP (React/TypeScript + Supabase) and designing integration APIs for institutional partners. **Expectations** - Proven track record of building or scaling a product from zero or an existing codebase. - Pragmatic, autonomous decision‑maker who prioritizes “good enough to deliver” over perfect but incomplete solutions. - Ability to align technology decisions with business objectives; tech serves the product and growth. - Comfortable working in an early‑stage, cross‑functional environment and using AI to accelerate delivery. - Commitment to security, data privacy (GDPR), and robust authentication practices. **Key Responsibilities** - Take ownership of the current MVP codebase; refactor and enhance for performance, scalability, and maintainability. - Design, document, and implement clean REST/GraphQL APIs for future integrations (e.g., university LMS, ADUM, HAL, ORCID). - Define and evolve the architecture, including PWA, mobile readiness, and additional features. - Collaborate with the Co‑Founder/CMO on user experience, onboarding flows, and feature prioritization that supports user acquisition and retention. - Lead security reviews, data protection measures, and compliance with institutional data handling standards. - Mentor and guide any junior developers; maintain technical documentation. - Incorporate AI tools into the development workflow to increase productivity. - Interface with institutional partners to translate partner requirements into technical road‑map items. **Required Skills** - Full‑stack generalist: front‑end (React, TypeScript), back‑end (Node.js or equivalent), database (Supabase/PostgreSQL). - API design, documentation, and versioning. - Strong grasp of authentication, authorization, and data protection best practices (GDPR compliance). - Experience building or scaling PWA/mobile capable applications. - Proven ability to work independently and make technical decisions without constant supervision. - Comfortable using AI/ML tools (GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, etc.) to accelerate coding and debugging. - Excellent communication with product and growth teams; ability to translate business needs into technical deliverables. **Required Education & Certifications** - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience). - No mandatory sector‑specific certification required; knowledge of educational or research domains is not prerequisite.
