Job Description
Job Title: Engineering Intern (Spring & Summer 2026) Role Summary: Support design, prototyping, and process modeling for modular onboard carbon capture systems. Work remotely in spring and in Houston full‑time in summer to develop centrifuge features, subsystems, and simulation tools. Expectations: • Short‑term (15–25 hrs/wk) remote during Spring 2026; full‑time (40 hrs/wk) in Houston during Summer 2026. • One application applies to both terms; candidates may serve both or choose one. • Salary $20–$30/h. • Hands‑on engineering tasks, collaboration with senior engineers, timely completion of deliverables. Key Responsibilities: 1. Design and refine centrifuge and auxiliary components using CAD. 2. Produce 3‑D models, drawings, and prototypes for iterative testing. 3. Build and run Aspen HYSYS process models of the onboard capture system. 4. Analyze simulation results, generate reports, and present findings. 5. Develop computational tools, scripts, or frameworks to aid system optimization and R&D workflow. 6. Participate in lab work, testing, and verification of prototype performance. 7. Document design changes, test procedures, and model inputs per company standards. Required Skills: - Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks, CATIA, or equivalent). - Experience with process simulation (Aspen Plus, Aspen HYSYS, or similar). - Basic understanding of fluid dynamics and thermodynamics. - Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills. - Effective written and verbal communication. - Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams. - Familiarity with prototyping (3‑D printing, CNC machining) and lab instrumentation is a plus. Required Education & Certifications: - Currently enrolled in, or recently completed, a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field. - Focus areas: CAD design, process modeling, or fluid dynamics. - No specific certifications required; coursework in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, or process engineering is preferred.
