Director of Editorial, Content & Community
**Role Summary**
Helps a nonprofit agency create and distribute high‑impact, meme‑driven content for political and social issues. Leads a small creative team, crafts platform‑specific copy, manages analytics, and aligns editorial strategy with client goals and breaking news.
**Expectations**
- Own daily operations of the meme & social media team.
- Deliver consistent, engaging, and brand‑aligned content across Reddit, X, Instagram, Threads, TikTok, Reels, Bluesky, and others.
- Meet posting quotas, timelines, and engagement metrics while staying agile for 24/7 news cycles.
- Produce weekly performance reports and adjust tactics for growth.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Recruit, manage, and mentor 3–5 creative staff focused on meme creation and social media execution.
- Lead editorial and analytics meetings, driving strategy from data insights.
- Collaborate with VP of Content, CEO, Marketing, Design, and Audience teams to set and refine content strategies.
- Craft original, witty copy and visuals that align with client briefs and brand voice.
- Use Meta Business Suite and other tools to boost & promote posts.
- Monitor breaking news and capitalize on flash moments with timely content.
- Identify emerging trends and create rapid‑response content.
- Build relationships with creators for collaboration opportunities.
- Oversee performance metrics: reach, engagement, growth, and KPI attainment.
**Required Skills**
- Proven ability to lead a small social‑media team (3–5 years).
- Advanced writing and copy‑editing for clean, humorous, brand‑consistent posts.
- Deep knowledge of Reddit, Instagram, X, Threads, TikTok, Reels, Bluesky.
- Strong analytical skills using in‑house data tools or platforms such as Google Analytics, Tableau, or similar.
- Design proficiency: Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Canva, AI‑generator tools.
- Strategy development for live coverage (elections, speeches, debates).
- Exceptional organization, multitasking, and deadline management.
- Passion for progressive politics, social impact, and news judgment.
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or related field (preferred).
- Professional certifications in digital marketing, social media analytics, or design tools (advantageous).
