Job title: Summer Legal Intern Role Summary A 8‑week, full‑time summer internship for penultimate‑year law or sustainability students. The intern will support the UK Sustainability Expertise Team within ABN AMRO’s Corporate Banking network, assisting with regulatory, client‑ and transaction‑related sustainability work. The role offers exposure to financial services, sustainable finance regulations, and cross‑functional collaboration. Expectations - Complete the internship from 22 June for 8 weeks. - Participate in client meetings, research projects, and policy updates. - Develop a cross‑functional understanding of sustainability compliance in banking. - Deliver high‑quality written and oral reports to senior team members. Key Responsibilities - Conduct legal and regulatory research on sustainable finance, ESG reporting, and climate‑related disclosure requirements. - Draft briefing notes, memoranda, and compliance documentation for internal stakeholders and clients. - Assist in monitoring regulatory developments and assessing reputational or regulatory risk. - Collaborate with finance, risk, and governance teams on sustainability‑linked projects. - Support the preparation of presentations and client materials for sustainability initiatives. Required Skills - Strong analytical and research skills with proficiency in legal databases. - Excellent written and verbal communication in English; additional EU language proficiency is a plus. - Ability to synthesize complex regulatory information into clear, actionable insights. - Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). - Self‑driven, collaborative, and comfortable working in a fast‑paced, multidisciplinary environment. Required Education & Certifications - Current enrolment in a UK university, penultimate year in Law, Environmental Law, Sustainability, or related discipline. - A minimum of a 2:1 undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in Law or a relevant field. - No specific formal certifications required, but knowledge of EU sustainable finance directives (e.g., SFDR, EU Taxonomy) is advantageous.
