Job Description
**Job Title** Data Science & Engineering Intern **Role Summary** Provide data‑driven analysis, NLP & automation support for safety standards development. Work with the data science & engineering team to collect, process, and synthesize structured and unstructured data, producing insights and visualizations for internal and external stakeholders. Contribute to project coordination, documentation, and presentations within a 3‑month internship. **Expectations** - Demonstrate strong quantitative and analytical skills. - Communicate findings clearly in written reports and visual formats. - Collaborate across cross‑functional teams while managing independent tasks. - Stay current on safety science research, NLP techniques, and data‑engineering practices. - Deliver accurate, high‑quality work within set deadlines. **Key Responsibilities** - Assist with data extraction, cleaning, and transformation using Python (Pandas, NumPy). - Apply NLP to automate document review, data collection, and trend analysis. - Prototype technical workflows to improve searchability and accessibility of standards libraries. - Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to uncover safety insights and produce dashboards. - Create reports, presentations, and visualizations summarizing findings. - Coordinate standards‑development projects: maintain documentation, track progress, schedule meetings. - Support cross‑department communication and knowledge sharing. **Required Skills** - Proficient in Python for data manipulation; familiarity with Pandas, NumPy. - Experience with data analysis tools (Excel, SPSS, R). - Knowledge of SQL and unstructured data retrieval (e.g., Elasticsearch). - Strong communication and technical writing capabilities. - Detail‑oriented, organized, and able to work independently and in teams. - Quick learner with a proactive approach to new challenges. **Required Education & Certifications** - Current enrollment in a bachelor’s or advanced degree program in Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field. - No specific certifications required; familiarity with industry safety standards is a plus.
