Job Description
**Job title:** Environmental Remediation Summer Student **Role Summary:** Four‑month paid internship (May – August 2026) supporting the Environmental Remediation team’s GIS and stakeholder‑engagement activities for the Project CLEANS uranium‑site cleanup. Work involves remote field travel in northern Saskatchewan and office‑based GIS data preparation. **Expactations:** - Full‑time (≈40 hrs/week) for 4 months; may require up to 12 hr days in the field. - Travel to remote, radiation‑impacted mine sites (up to two weeks at a time) by small aircraft, boat, and ATVs; walk rugged terrain with a 20‑lb backpack. - Hold a valid Class 5 driver’s licence. - Provide a recent (≤30 days) criminal record check before start‑date. - Work with minimal supervision while following detailed instructions. **Key Responsibilities:** - Format and validate GIS data for accuracy and consistency. - Prepare spatial datasets for loading into a geodatabase, adhering to established data models and naming conventions. - Perform basic GIS tasks: map creation, data quality checks, and routine updates. - Assist the CLEANS team with stakeholder‑engagement preparation and related documentation. **Required Skills:** - Proficiency with GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and basic spatial analysis. - Familiarity with SQL Server (preferred). - Strong attention to detail, organization, and quality‑focused work habits. - Effective communication, teamwork, multitasking, and problem‑solving abilities. - Ability to adapt to changing tasks and work autonomously. - Commitment to workplace safety standards. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Currently enrolled in a post‑secondary program (degree or diploma) in geomatics, environmental science, technology, or a closely related field. - Valid Class 5 driver’s licence. - Criminal record check (to be provided pre‑employment).
