Job Description
Job Title: Deputy Technical Manager – Asbestos Role Summary Senior technical leader supporting UKAS accreditation, ensuring compliance with HSE, CAR 2012, ISO 17020/17025, and conducting site audits, quality assurance, and continuous improvement across asbestos inspection and testing operations. Expactations - Maintain highest standards of technical quality and accreditation. - Act as technical point of contact in absence of technical manager. - Deliver mentoring, coaching, and corrective guidance to staff. - Provide data‑driven audit reports and recommend improvement actions. Key Responsibilities • Support UKAS accreditation maintenance and preparation for assessments. • Manage non‑conformances and compliance monitoring. • Conduct site and staff‑witnessed audits (survey, refurbishment, demolition, re‑inspection). • Perform 4‑stage clearance and 2nd‑stage re‑inspections in line with UKAS. • Review desktop reports, certificates, and technical data for accuracy. • Mentor surveyors and analysts, review method statements and guidance notes. • Deliver internal technical training, competency records, and induction. • Produce audit reports, trend analyses, and corrective/preventive action plans. • Provide technical management information for internal audits and performance reviews. Required Skills - Extensive practical experience in asbestos surveying, analysis, and site auditing. - Strong knowledge of UKAS, ISO 17020, ISO 17025, HSE guidance, and CAR 2012. - Proven audit and quality assurance leadership. - Excellent communication, reporting, influencing, and mentoring abilities. - Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel across England. Required Education & Certifications - BOHS or RSPH qualifications: P402, P403, P404 (W504/M504 preferred). - CoCA desirable. - Relevant environmental or occupational health qualifications.
