**Job Title**
HVAC Design Engineer (H/F)
**Role Summary**
Responsible for the entire life‑cycle of heating, ventilation, air‑conditioning, and smoke‑extraction systems in renovation and new‑build projects. Conducts on‑site data collection, performs detailed thermal‑mechanical analyses, designs and documents solutions, coordinates construction, and ensures regulatory compliance from concept to commissioning.
**Expectations**
- Deliver high‑quality design studies within agreed cost, quality, and time frames.
- Act as the engineering lead, linking clients, contractors, and project teams.
- Ensure all deliverables meet French standards (DTU, labeling) and international best practices.
- Facilitate client acceptance and final commissioning.
**Key Responsibilities**
1. Conduct on‑site assessments: measure and record building parameters, equipment, and environmental data.
2. Input and analyse data, perform calculations (energy modelling, airflow, thermodynamics) to produce diagnostics and recommendations.
3. Design new installations or retrofit existing systems; prepare tender documents, technical specifications, and implementation schedules.
4. Define project scope, contract terms, and delivery milestones in collaboration with clients or owners.
5. Oversee construction: site visits to verify workmanship, material compliance, and adherence to specifications and regulations.
6. Assist clients during commissioning; issue take‑off documents, approval certificates, and, if necessary, raise reservation lists for corrective actions.
7. Participate in private expertises supporting client decisions or contractual disputes.
**Required Skills**
- Proficiency in building energy simulation (e.g., EnergyPlus, IES VE) and airflow software (e.g., CFX, ATHENA).
- Strong grasp of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and HVAC system design.
- Knowledge of French building regulations and labeling (DTU, Bâtiment Durable, CE marking).
- Ability to produce detailed technical drawings, specifications, and calculation sheets.
- Project management skills: contract drafting, scheduling, and budget monitoring.
- Effective communication and stakeholder coordination.
- Fluent in French and English (written and spoken).
**Required Education & Certifications**
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or related discipline.
- Professional certification or training in HVAC design (e.g., École Nationale Supérieure de l’Agriculture, STC) preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with high‑performance building projects is an asset.
