Job Description
**Job Title** Senior Authorised Person (SAP) **Role Summary** Acts as the senior safety authority for high‑voltage (HV) operations up to 33 kV on client sites. Ensures safe isolation, earthing, and switching of HV equipment, oversees Authorised Persons and subcontractors, and guarantees compliance with health‑and‑safety regulations and project schedules. **Expectations** - Maintain zero‑harm environment for all personnel in HV areas. - Deliver HV switching, isolation and earthing tasks on time and to specification. - Lead and coordinate on‑site teams, ensuring adherence to Safe Systems of Work. - Produce accurate safety documentation, risk assessments, method statements, and project reports. - Resolve technical and safety issues promptly, providing corrective actions and counter‑measures. - Communicate effectively with client managers and represent the company in project meetings. **Key Responsibilities** - Organise and execute HV switching, isolation, and earthing for networks up to 33 kV. - Issue and manage safety documentation for customer HV systems. - Maintain a register of competent personnel, track training, and define responsibilities. - Investigate near‑misses, incidents, and accidents; implement lessons learned. - Supervise on‑site teams and subcontractors, allocate work, and monitor progress against the project schedule and commissioning plan. - Ensure compliance with all statutory standards, regulations, and distribution safety rules. - Conduct risk assessments, method statements, toolbox talks, and other H&S activities. - Prepare concise project documentation, reports, and corrective‑action plans. - Participate in daily client liaison and project meetings; provide technical input. **Required Skills** - Authorized SAP status for work on 33 kV systems. - In‑depth knowledge of distribution safety rules and H&S standards. - Strong leadership and team‑management capabilities. - Proven ability to prioritize work, handle conflicting requests, and meet time‑critical deadlines. - Excellent problem‑solving, fault‑identification, and decision‑making under pressure. - Effective communication, meeting facilitation, and stakeholder management. - High organisational skills with strong time‑management. - Competent IT proficiency (reporting and documentation tools). **Required Education & Certifications** - Valid SAP authorization for 33 kV work. - Safe Pass – CCNSG/CSCS or equivalent. - Minimum 5 years experience as a Senior Authorised Person. - Technical qualification: HNC or equivalent apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering (or comparable). - Recognised safety training (e.g., CITB, IOSH, NEEB/SOH) – beneficial. - EU citizenship, EU resident visa, or EU work permit.
