Job Description

**Job Title:** AI Engineer **Role Summary:** Design, develop, and integrate AI‑enabled solutions to automate software development, code generation, testing, and documentation within the IRS UAPI ecosystem. Build, deploy, and maintain machine‑learning models and APIs, supporting legacy modernization and MLOps practices in a secure, regulated environment. **Expectations:** - US citizenship and eligibility for MBI (IRS) background clearance (active clearance preferred). - 3–5+ years of professional experience in software or machine‑learning engineering. - Ability to produce high‑volume, accurate code and collaborate across full‑stack and data engineering teams. - Strong communication skills and capacity to support business development activities as needed. **Key Responsibilities:** - Design AI‑driven solutions for API development and modernization. - Implement automated code generation, review, and documentation tools. - Enable language conversion from legacy COBOL to modern languages. - Develop and expose APIs for AI/ML workflows, including model deployment and inference. - Build, train, and deploy ML models using Python and frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow. - Apply MLOps practices: model versioning, monitoring, retraining, and containerized deployment (OpenShift Serverless, AWS Serverless, Kubernetes). - Collaborate with full‑stack and data engineers to embed AI capabilities into services. - Contribute to testing, validation, and performance evaluation of AI‑enabled services. **Required Skills:** - Proficient in Python programming. - Experience with ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow). - Hands‑on experience deploying models via APIs and cloud AI platforms. - Familiarity with container orchestration (Kubernetes) and serverless environments (OpenShift, AWS). - Version control (GitHub) and issue tracking (JIRA). - Strong written and verbal communication. **Required Education & Certifications:** - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. - Eligibility for MBI (IRS) security clearance. - (Optional) Certifications in cloud platforms, MLOps, or AI/ML are advantageous but not mandatory.
