Job Title: Director of Marketing and Communications
Role Summary:
Lead and unify all marketing and communications functions for a leading advocacy organization focused on Black entrepreneurship. Develop and execute a cohesive brand, messaging, and content strategy across policy, programs, development, and stakeholder engagement. Serve as the central authority on marketing, ensuring consistency, alignment, and strategic impact.
Expectations:
- Establish a single, integrated marketing philosophy and brand voice.
- Deliver measurable milestones: annual plans, campaign metrics, and systematized processes.
- Build internal and external stakeholder confidence in marketing as a strategic asset.
- Demonstrate a balance of high-level strategy and hands‑on execution, especially during growth or transition phases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and evolve the organization’s marketing and communications strategy, ensuring alignment with advocacy, programs, and partnership initiatives.
- Define brand voice, messaging pillars, and narrative frameworks that guide all communications.
- Produce annual and campaign‑level marketing plans with clear goals, target audiences, and success metrics.
- Oversee execution across digital, email, web, print, and other channels; enforce consistency and quality.
- Audit current efforts, identify gaps and redundancies, and implement scalable solutions.
- Partner with department leaders to translate marketing needs into effective plans and provide guidance on positioning, audience engagement, and brand stewardship.
- Manage vendor relationships, set expectations, and maintain quality and alignment standards.
- Develop systems and processes that support long‑term stability and scalability of marketing functions.
- Advise senior leadership on brand‑related decisions and strategy.
Required Skills:
- 7+ years in marketing, communications, or brand leadership.
- Proven ability to build or centralize marketing/communications functions in complex, multi‑stakeholder environments.
- Strong strategic thinking coupled with hands‑on execution skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication; adept at translating complex work into clear narratives.
- Experience leading and managing internal creative teams and/or external vendors.
- Leadership and consultative mindset with cross‑functional collaboration.
- Commitment to racial equity, economic justice, and supporting Black entrepreneurship.
Required Education & Certifications:

- Equivalent experience and proven accomplishment in marketing/communications leadership roles acceptable.
