**Job Title:** Geospatial Data Architect
**Role Summary:**
Design, govern, and modernise the data architecture for a national geospatial and land data ecosystem. Lead the creation of standards, models, and integration solutions that drive basemap development, land data modelling, and platform capabilities across a diverse system landscape.
**Expectations:**
- 4‑month remote contract (UK‑based).
- Deliver comprehensive data models and governance frameworks that meet international standards and support live, validated, and historical data handling.
- Achieve BPSS security clearance within 2 weeks of successful interviewing.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Develop conceptual, logical, and physical geospatial data models using EA Sparx.
- Define data standards, schemas, and metadata frameworks aligned with ISO 19115, INSPIRE, GEMINI, and other geospatial protocols.
- Design data solutions distinguishing between real‑time, batch, and streaming processing.
- Conduct gap analyses between current datasets and emerging platform requirements.
- Establish integration points, APIs, and interoperability standards (including OGC‑based services).
- Assess and enhance data governance maturity, focusing on stewardship, quality, and lifecycle management.
- Collaborate with cloud and solution architects to architect secure and performant data storage.
- Document current (“as‑is”) and future (“to‑be”) data landscapes, models, and governance mechanisms.
**Required Skills:**
- Proven experience designing geospatial data architectures in large enterprise or public‑sector environments.
- Advanced proficiency with EA Sparx (data modelling, architecture documentation).
- In‑depth knowledge of geospatial metadata standards (ISO 19115, INSPIRE, GEMINI).
- Strong grasp of coordinate reference systems, topology, geometry validation, and data lineage.
- Demonstrated ability in data quality/completeness assessment and governance framework implementation.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and facilitation within structured architecture governance models.
- Capability to articulate technical solutions to technical and non‑technical audiences.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Geoinformatics, GIS, or a related field.
- Professional certification in data architecture, GIS (e.g., GIS Professional, CBIP), or EA tools is advantageous.
