Job title: 2026 Summer Intern – MS/PhD – Perception
Role Summary: Assist in developing, refining, and evaluating perception algorithms that enable intelligent environmental understanding for autonomous systems. Work with multimodal sensor data, computer vision and vision‑language models, and perception pipelines to improve detection, recognition, tracking, and scene understanding.
Expectations:
- Contribute to research and development of perception solutions in a hybrid onsite setting.
- Complete deliverables on time, maintain reproducible results, and communicate findings clearly within cross‑functional teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build and refine perception algorithms for 3D object detection, tracking, segmentation, and scene understanding.
- Analyze images, video, LiDAR, and radar data to enhance model accuracy and robustness.
- Support data preprocessing, labeling, augmentation, and validation workflows.
- Conduct experiments to benchmark perception models, interpret metrics, and propose performance improvements.
- Collaborate with Behavior, Action, and Platform teams to integrate perception outputs into downstream decision‑making pipelines.
- Document methodologies, tools, and results in reproducible formats for internal and external use.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in Python and/or C++.
- Strong foundation in computer vision, machine learning, and data processing.
- Experience with deep learning frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow) and vision/point‑cloud libraries.
- Ability to process and analyze multimodal sensor data (image, video, LiDAR, radar).
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with 3D perception, point‑cloud processing, or multi‑sensor fusion.
- Knowledge of robotics, autonomous systems, or real‑time perception pipelines.
- Familiarity with evaluation datasets and benchmarking frameworks.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Enrolled in an MS or Ph.D. program in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics, or a related field.
