Job Description
Job Title: Information System Security Officer – Senior Role Summary: Lead the development, implementation, and oversight of an organization-wide information security program, ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks (NIST, DoD, Federal). Drive risk assessments, audits, and incident response while mentoring junior staff and advising senior leadership on security posture. Expectations: Demonstrate advanced expertise in cybersecurity risk management, lead cross‑functional security initiatives, maintain a proactive stance on emerging threats, and uphold a Top Secret clearance. Key Responsibilities - Design and manage a comprehensive information security program aligned with applicable policies and regulations. - Prepare, review, and validate security documentation for complex IT systems, including RMF assessments, SARs, and Authorization Packages. - Conduct audits and assessments of existing security controls, identify vulnerabilities, and coordinate corrective actions. - Provide expert guidance on best practices, incident response, and risk management to technical teams and senior leadership. - Mentor and develop junior security staff, fostering understanding of principles and regulatory requirements. - Monitor emerging cyber threats, recommend countermeasures, and keep the organization’s security posture resilient. - Report security posture and compliance status to senior management on a regular basis. - Coordinate security training and awareness programs across the organization. - Engage with regulatory bodies and external partners to align with current standards and practices. Required Skills - Deep knowledge of RMF, NIST, DoD, and Federal security frameworks. - Strong analytical and strategic thinking for complex security issues. - Effective written and verbal communication for diverse audiences. - Leadership and team‑management experience with project management capabilities. - Proficiency in conducting security assessments, audits, and incident response. - Ability to translate technical security concepts into actionable business strategies. Required Education & Certifications - Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field (Master’s preferred). - Minimum 7 years of information security experience, with focus on RMF and defense‑sector compliance. - Active certification (CISSP, CISM, or equivalent). - Active Top Secret Security Clearance.
