Job Title: Core Banking Mainframe Developer (M/F)
Role Summary:
Develop, maintain and support core banking applications on mainframe platforms, primarily using COBOL. Collaborate with banking domain experts to analyze requirements, design integrated solutions, document specifications, and ensure adherence to development standards. Participate in data integration, BI tools, and middleware updates while providing effective incident resolution and operational support.
Expections:
- Deliver high‑quality mainframe code within agreed timelines.
- Follow and enforce corporate development standards and security protocols.
- Communicate clearly with stakeholders, users, and cross‑functional teams.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with banking regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze business requirements in coordination with domain experts.
- Design, code, test, and deploy COBOL applications for banking, extranet, and data repositories.
- Maintain existing applications, applying patches, fixes, and documentation updates.
- Perform technology watch to recommend and apply best practices and new tools.
- Participate in programme integration projects: configuration, interface development, data migration tools, and testing.
- Manage support tickets: triage issues, develop corrective actions, test fixes, and update knowledge bases (e.g., Confluence).
- Monitor operational interfaces, generate performance indicators, and update middleware/ETL environments.
- Provide ad‑hoc professional tasks and inter‑departmental assistance as required.
Required Skills:
- Mainframe environment expertise with strong COBOL proficiency.
- Experience writing functional and technical specifications.
- Project management fundamentals: planning, prioritisation, and change control.
- Familiarity with collaborative tools (JIRA, Confluence).
- Understanding of banking processes and regulatory constraints.
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem‑solving abilities.
- High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and security awareness.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Minimum post‑secondary degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent (Bac+2 or higher).
- Relevant internship or apprenticeship experience in mainframe banking development.
