**Job Title:**
Director, Associate General Counsel – Legal & Compliance (UK & Europe)
**Role Summary:**
Lead the legal and compliance function for the company’s operations in the United Kingdom and European Union, working closely with the Global General Counsel. Deliver contract strategy, regulatory advice, data‑privacy and AI compliance, and dispute resolution while building and scaling a robust compliance framework for a global finance‑technology consulting firm.
**Expectations:**
* Demonstrate senior legal leadership across multi‑jurisdictional environments.
* Drive end‑to‑end legal processes, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
* Build and maintain an effective, technology‑enabled compliance program.
* Deliver timely, practical counsel to stakeholders across consulting, technology, product, and business‑development teams.
**Key Responsibilities:**
1. **Contract Management** – Draft, negotiate, and manage consulting, technology, IP, data‑privacy, vendor, partnership, and corporate agreements (MSAs, EULAs, SOWs, NDAs, etc.).
2. **Legal Advisory** – Provide real‑time counsel on corporate governance, board matters, director duties, entity formation, and cross‑border regulatory issues.
3. **Regulatory & Compliance** – Design, implement, and monitor a global compliance framework covering anti‑bribery, AML/KYC, modern slavery, data‑privacy (UK GDPR, EU GDPR), and emerging AI regulations (EU AI Act).
4. **Data Privacy & Security** – Advise on data‑protection agreements (DPAs, BAAs), data governance, incident response, and secure product development.
5. **Dispute Resolution** – Lead negotiations, manage disputes, and coordinate litigation strategy with external counsel.
6. **M&A & Corporate Transactions** – Support due diligence, deal structuring, and post‑transaction integration.
7. **Stakeholder Collaboration** – Partner with product, technology, and data teams to embed legal and regulatory considerations into product lifecycle.
8. **Leadership & Development** – Mentor and grow the legal & compliance team, adopt technology for legal operations, and report on performance to senior leadership.
**Required Skills:**
* Deep knowledge of UK and EU contract law, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.
* Expertise in data‑privacy (GDPR), data‑transfer agreements, and cybersecurity agreements.
* Familiarity with EU AI Act and AI‑related regulatory landscape.
* Strong negotiation, drafting, and stakeholder‑management abilities.
* Ability to translate complex legal requirements into business‑friendly solutions.
* Proficiency in legal technology tools (e‑discovery, contract analytics, compliance platforms).
* Leadership, influence, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
**Required Education & Certifications:**
* Qualified lawyer in the UK (Solicitor or Barrister) or equivalent.
* Law degree (LLB/BA) and completion of the Legal Practice Course (LPC) or Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC).
* Minimum 8‑10 years of senior legal experience, preferably in a multinational consulting, technology, or financial services environment.
* Proven track record in contract negotiation, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution.
* Knowledge of anti‑bribery, AML/KYC, and modern slavery compliance is essential.
