Job Description
**Job Title** Rheumatologist – Clinical Trials (Principal Investigator) **Role Summary** Board‑certified rheumatologist responsible for leading and overseeing Phase 1‑4 clinical trials at a Nashville site. Provides principal investigator (PI) oversight, ensures patient safety, regulatory compliance, and protocol adherence while collaborating with research coordinators, sponsors, and regulatory bodies. Position is part‑time (one onsite day/week) with remote support; full‑time option available. **Expectations** - Deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered care while managing trial participants. - Maintain strict adherence to study protocols, regulatory requirements, and safety standards. - Supervise and mentor study staff; ensure accurate data collection and reporting. - Communicate effectively with sponsors, CROs, and regulatory agencies. - Contribute to quality‑improvement and research leadership initiatives. - Commit to one on‑site day per week; perform additional duties remotely as needed. **Key Responsibilities** - Serve as PI for existing and future rheumatology clinical trials after any required training. - Oversee trial conduct, participant safety monitoring, and regulatory compliance. - Ensure protocol fidelity, timely and accurate reporting, and proper documentation. - Lead and supervise study staff, including research coordinators and ancillary personnel. - Collaborate with sponsors, CROs, and Institutional Review Boards (IRBs). - Participate in study start‑up activities, site initiation visits, and monitoring visits. - Engage in quality‑improvement projects and research governance activities. **Required Skills** - Board certification in Rheumatology (MD or DO). - Active medical license in Tennessee. - Strong interpersonal and communication abilities. - Leadership and supervisory experience in a clinical research setting (training provided if needed). - Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and trial regulatory frameworks. - Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize, and maintain meticulous records. **Required Education & Certifications** - Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO). - Board Certification in Rheumatology. - Tennessee State Medical Licensure. - (Preferred) Prior experience with clinical research; not mandatory due to available training.
